Chauncey is a fitness professional who has always been involved in his community. In the last few years, his focus has been on the health of the people within the Baltimore community. He spent three years working for the YMCA of Central Maryland as a fitness coordinator developing and implementing fitness programs for the members. In addition, he organized multiple fundraising events to collect money and toys for the people in the local area. The money collected allowed low-income families to participate in YMCA programs.
Chauncey's effort to bring an awareness of health and wellness to the Baltimore community has been documented by the Baltimore Sun (Coming through at crunch time, by Phillip McGowan, December 19, 2004) and the Baltimore Afro American (Druid Hill YMCA fitness instructor Attempts Guinness record, by H. Allen Hurst).
Chauncey appears as a fitness guest on local radio and television programs, conducts university workshops and wellness symposiums. In the fall of 2006, he participated in The Tavis Smiley Group Presents the Road to Health Tour. This summer, CDW Health and Wellness Lifestyles, LLC co-organized with BOND, Inc and the Baltimore City Health Department the first African-American Heritage Walk through the historic Sharpleadenhall and the Gwynn Falls Trail. Chauncey lead the walk with Mayor Sheila Dixon on a 1.5 mile health walk. In addition this summer, CDW Health and Wellness has planned and advised on faith-based walking events.
Chauncey believes that one of the easiest and safest forms of exercise is walking. He constantly challenges himself and his clients and has completed several marathons to date.
